Dieter Werner

Owner of Fox Run Stables, Dieter Werner was born in Stuttgart Germany where he devoted himself to a career as a rider and earned the title of German Certified Coach and Trainer (Bereiter FN).

Upon moving to Canada in 1982, Dieter became an integral part of the Canadian horse sport, serving on many boards and committees at a provincial and national level, working as a Senior Course Designer, and founding the Future Horse Shows; a series of competitions dedicated to the development of young horses. Dieter’s most current endeavor has been to found the EquiCup™ horse shows and events which is a project committed to providing a high standard of equestrian experiences that are accessible to all horse enthusiasts.


Dieter has shown successfully in the highest levels of Hunter, Jumper, and Dressage and is one of very few trainers to have shown in several disciplines internationally. He brings years of experience, a disciplined work ethic, and a finely tuned understanding of the horse into the show ring where he continues to be a fervent competitor.

As a trainer, Dieter has developed several of his own horses from start to Grand Prix level. He has also started numerous horses for others that have gone on to have successful careers. Dieter has a keen eye for talent and is known for matching horses and riders that go on to have life long partnerships. With patience, understanding, and a wealth of knowledge, Dieter is able to develop horse and rider combinations of all levels, from beginner to professional.
